Trilokinath 

This temple had been built by queen Sultana Devi, wife of Ajber Sen in 1520. It is located in the old capital of Mandi State now known as Purani Mandi. This is a heritage temple and scholars from India and abroad come here to study the inscriptions engraved on this pristine temple.


Panchvaktra    

This temple had been built on the confluence of Beas and Suketi rivulet by Raja Sidh Sen who ruled Mandi State during 1664-1727. There are many other Shiva temples in the town including Ardhnarishwar, Mahamritunjaya, Neelkanth Mahadev, Kameshwar Mahadev, Raneshwar Mahadev and Ekadash Rudra.

Bhutnath

Legend has it that a cow used to drip her milk on a stone in a forest where the present Mandi town is located. The fact was verified by the then ruler Ajber Sen. In the meantime Lord Shiva appeared in the dream and ordained Ajber Sen to dig beneath the stone. He did it and to his pleasant surprise a large Shivlinga was found. He built Bhutnath temple on that spot in 1926. Simultaneously the capital of Mandi State was shifted from Bhiuli to this place where the town is located at present. First Shivratri Fair was held at that time and is continuing since then.

Rewalsar Lake

Located at 1360 m above sea level Rewalsar lake is famous for it floating islands. Confluence of three religions Rewalsar is a sacred pilgrimage for Hindus, Sikhs and Budhists. Devotees from all over the world visit the holy lake. It is a land of Lomas Rishi and there are ancient Hindu temples here. Budhists believe that in the cluster of floating-reed the spirit of Guru Padamsambhava resides. Guru Gobind Singh had addressed a historic conference of 22 hill rulers and had exhorted them to unite against the Mugal invaders. At the venue of conference sprawling and elegant Gurdwara has been built.

Kamru Nag

Kamru Nag is a legendary lake located at a height of 9000 ft above sea level and about 63 km from Mandi town. Spread over half a km the place is an enchanting tourists attraction. A tough trek of 8 km has to be negotiated from Ruhanda (which is 60 km from Mandi) to reach the lake. A wooden temple of Kamru Nag is located on the bank of the lake where thousands of devotees pay their obeisance round the year.

Barot

 

Located on the bank of Uhl river Barot is favourite hill resort in Mandi district about 60 km from Mandi. Anglers from home and abroad enjoy trout fishing  found in abundance in the Uhl. Barot is also connected by a rope-way trolley from Jogindernagar. The rope-way trolley crawls up to the height of 8000 ft in two stages and after that down-hill journey starts in the trolley for Barot again in two stages.


                                         Shivratri Fair in Mandi                                     

  Over 200 hill gods and goddesses converge on the sprawling Padal ground of Mandi town to participate in International Shivratri Fari in the centuries old heritage town of temples, known as Kashi of Himachal Pradesh .

Shivratri is celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety. The town dresses up for  week-long celebrations which are held in keeping with 600-year old royal traditions of princely rulers. Noted artists from home and abroad regale the audience in the colourful evening cultural programmes.                

Mandi rulers were devotees of Lord Shiva. Bhutnath, Trilokinath, Panchvaktra and Ardhnarishwar are prominent Shiva temples. There are over 100 temples here. Built in Shikhra style these are the finest specimen of hill architecture.

The Shivratri fair is being celebrated here since the very foundation of the present Mandi town was laid in 1526 during the rule of Ajber Sen.
